FBI closes investigation into Kraken founder
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has concluded its investigation into Kraken Exchange founder Jesse Powell and returned the devices it seized during a 2023 raid. The raid, linked to a dispute over Powell's involvement in a non-profit he founded, was unrelated to his cryptocurrency operations. The U.S. Justice Department has dropped the case and Powell plans to continue his lawsuit against the non-profit’s board, Fortune Crypto reported.

ConsenSys to cut 7% of staff to boost profitability
Ethereum infrastructure developer ConsenSys plans to lay off 49 employees, about 7% of its workforce, to improve profitability, Bloomberg reported, cited by JinSe Finance. The company recently acquired a startup with 30 employees who will stay on, and it continues hiring for other roles.

MetaMask adds Solana support through Transak partnership
MetaMask Wallet has partnered with payments provider Transak to integrate native support for Solana, its first outside the Ethereum ecosystem, according to CryptoPotato. Starting July 22, users can buy SOL directly in the app using fiat currency through cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfers.

Fireblocks now supports SUI network
Crypto custody company Fireblocks announced via X institutional access to the Sui Network, offering native custody for SUI and Sui-based tokens. The platform also provides policy control via multi-party computation (MPC) wallets and plans to support staking soon.

ETH unstaking rises but staking demand remains strong
A wave of Ethereum (ETH) unstaking with over 350,000 ETH has raised concerns about potential selling pressure after Ethereum’s 160% rally since April, according to BeInCrypto. However, much of the unstaked ETH may be moved to treasuries for long-term strategies rather than sold. At the same time, staking demand remains robust with more ETH queued for staking than unstaking and 35.7 million ETH already staked, suggesting continued confidence in the network.

PancakeSwap Infinity launches on Base
Decentralized exchange (DEX) PancakeSwap (CAKE) announced via X the launch of its upgraded version, PancakeSwap Infinity, on the Base network. Users can now choose between concentrated or simple liquidity pool types, save up to 50% in gas fees when swapping native Ethereum (ETH) and access smart contract customization features.
