Trump advisor: BTC needs to flush out 2 selling whales to hit $150K

David Bailey, a Bitcoin advisor to President Donald Trump, has claimed that BTC will not reach $150,000 due to heavy selling from two OG whales, or very long-term holders. In a post on X, Bailey suggested that for BTC to surpass the $150,000 mark, the market needs to absorb all of one whale's selling pressure and half of the other's, Cointelegraph reported. The outlet noted that according to multiple on-chain analysts, two early Bitcoin investors have recently been liquidating large portions of their holdings. One whale address sold $2.7 billion worth of BTC on Aug. 24, while the other has sold $4 billion in BTC to purchase ETH since late August.

Analyst: ETH may form bear trap in September before October rebound

Ethereum could fall to its mid-$3,000 support level this month to form a bear trap before surging in October, Cointelegraph reported. Crypto trader and analyst Johnny Woo added that while ETH may undergo a deeper correction in September, it could see a complete reversal the following month. Woo explained that a head-and-shoulders chart pattern could initially reinforce a bearish outlook, but he anticipates a rebound driven by the seasonal "Uptober" trend, a period when Bitcoin has historically performed well. He stressed that this is a plausible scenario, as similar patterns have occurred frequently in the past.

This marked the largest single-day sell-off by this cohort so far this year. CoinDesk reported, citing data from Glassnode, that profit-taking activity from LTHs has risen as Bitcoin's price surpassed $100,000. The report explained that the $100,000 price point is acting as a psychological barrier, causing some investors to sell. As a result, BTC could experience increased short-term volatility around this level.
